Mission Statement

Triumph Services' model is simple, to provide individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities with the tools to thrive independently at home, work and in relationships. The comprehensive services Triumph provides have the individual at the center of the plan as the expert on their dreams and goals. The goal is simple, for each individual we serve to be happy and successful.

About This Cause

Following the closure of a UAB Clinic, Triumph Services opened in August 2007 to provide immediate support to local individuals with development disabilities who were left without adequate services. Launching with 16 individuals, the model was simple – to provide the tools for people with disabilities to thrive independently at home, at work, and in relationships. Now serving hundreds of individuals, ages 16 and older, in the Birmingham area, Triumph Services provides a holistic approach to support people who have developmental disabilities. Triumph places the individual at the center, offering comprehensive programming that honors them as the expert on their own dreams and goals. Each program is designed to enhance the major pillars of one’s life, helping those served to live, work, and play well. The LIVE program allows individuals to gain greater independent living skills. Life Coaches address many needs including Organization and Home Management, Health and Safety, Financial Literacy, Personal Hygiene, and Self-motivation. The WORK program pairs individuals with job coaches to collaboratively identify the best work environment based on the person’s gifts, strengths, and interests. Participants complete career assessments, partake in a job development curriculum to prepare for the application and interview process, and are coached through job maintenance scenarios such as securing necessary accommodations, developing relationships, and problem solving. The PLAY program offers weekly opportunities for social events and one-on-one interactions to assist with community integration and build healthy relationships. The COUNSELING program supports all these efforts by addressing mental health challenges that impede a participant’s journey to self-sufficiency, such as depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. The COUNSELING program is the basis of this grant request along with some funding for the LIVE program.
