Mission Statement
Our Mission is to work in partnership with the people of LaCroix, Haiti through programs, construction and education that will empower them to improve their quality of life, within their culture.
About This Cause
Our connection with the LaCroix New Testament Mission began in 1997, when a doctor and nurse traveled to the mission to offer medical care to a community that had never seen a doctor or nurse. The first “clinic” was held under a tree using wooden benches as the exam tables and pharmacy. In 1998, Haitians and American mission workers built a medical clinic, which is currently staffed by Haitian doctors, nurses and a Haitian Dentist. A Birthing Center was also completed in 2007. The birthing center allows mothers to have a clean, safe place to deliver babies with the help of Haitian doctors, midwives or nurses. Pregnant women also receive pre-natal care and vitamins through the Birthing Center. Both of these programs are now self sustaining. Friends of Haiti was formed by a group of people who had served the Lacroix New Testament Mission on volunteer mission trips. As the work and donations grew, so did the people who wanted to serve and financially support the mission. The Friends of HaiTi was established to continue our support of the Lacroix New Testament Mission as a recognized 501c3 non-profit organization. Our goal is to work in partnership with the people of Haiti through health care, construction and educational programs that will empower the Haitian people to improve their quality of life, within their culture. Friends of Haiti supports a feeding program at the schools within the mission as well as giving children hope through education in our Child Sponsorship Program. Friends of Haiti also supports a Technical School which offers opportunities for students to learn carpentry, computers and sewing and tailoring. Friends of Haiti is an all volunteer organization.
