Mission Statement
To RESCUE women & children victims of sex trafficking. To SHELTER and rehabilitate them in our Home of Love. To give them an OPPORTUNITY to live a decent life, where Christ will be the center of their lives. To EDUCATE the children of the Philippines early, in an effort to combat the evils of prostitution before they become vulnerable, through our Regina Coeli Education Program
About This Cause
The Mary Queen of Heaven Missionaries was established to address the cruelest result of impoverishment in the Philippines. Young girls being forced into the sex trafficking trade due to poverty. Girls ages 8 to 15 are locked in rooms and exposed to rape, diseases and murder. Many die quite young before they even have a chance to live. Through perfect love and charity, the determined nuns of MQHM have developed a two-fold plan to combat these atrocities: 1. Home of Love & My Bonita Rescue Home for Children - We rescue as many women and children as possible and bring them to our ‘Home of Love’ in Tuburan, Cebu. Once there, they are safe, receive shelter and rehabilitation, while being educated and older girls are taught a respectable trade to provide for themselves and in many cases their families. 'My Bonita' is our rescue house for young children who have been sexually abused, located in Talamban, Cebu. 2. Regina Coeli Education Program - We reach into the rural areas of the Philippines and offer children an education, as a preventative measure and a way out of the vicious cycle of poverty. This program is extremely successful in offering children with no means opportunities they would otherwise never be exposed to. The Home of Love Center, in Tuburan, Cebu, Philippines needs your help to expand its facilities and sustain its mission. The educational network developed by MQHM, named The Regina Coeli Educational Program, has had amazing success but has reached a plateau due to a lack of funds. The Sisters of Mary Queen of Heaven Missionaries have a sincere mission to embrace God’s graces and serve the poor and unfortunate children of their country, through mercy, love and charity. WALKING IN THE DARK ALLEYS AT NIGHT, dressed in street clothes, we rescue children and women victims of prostitution and sex trafficking. Underage children…waiting for customers to pick them up and being paid a small amount of money to augment their family sustenance. Bar dancers, tourist escorts and the poorest of the poor who have fallen victim to the handlers who roam the desperate rural villages promising parents “good jobs in the city” for their girls. With the Sisters chosen by the “New Eve”, the Woman clothed with the sun (Rev. 12:1), God shall liberate these women back to Her image of unblemished dignity. Over two decades ago, seven Roman Catholic Filipino women who were friends living in Manila, began spreading Marian Devotion prayers and education among families and children. These working women, as a group, spent their weekends conducting talks on the Rosary, leading rosary prayer sessions, and discussing the Brown Scapular. All was done in a lay outreach ministry to teach Filipino children about Mary, the Mother of Jesus. Corazon J. Salazar from Bulacan was one of these seven friends and owned her own ready-to-wear clothing store in Baclaran, Paranaque, Philippines. Each morning on her way to work, she regularly passed along the long strip of Mabini Avenue in Manila, known as the Red Light District. Foreign nationals with Filipino girls were a common sight, with many being so young. Day after day she witnessed the same scenario and was deeply touched with pity for the young girls and women caught in prostitution and sex trafficking. She developed a strong desire to do something to help them out of this cycle of misery and wanted to help them reform their lives for the better. She confided her strong compassion for these lost victims to her six friends who came to believe without any doubt that the Holy Spirit was prompting her to act. With all of them inhabiting a strong love for the Blessed Mother, they felt it was their calling to rescue these girls and women by providing shelter and safety, medical and psychological needs, and education for future self-sustaining employment while bringing them back to Jesus and His abundant love. All the friends agreed to leave their homes and careers and live together, for the common cause of lifting these women and children up and out of prostitution. They didn’t know how they were going to do it, but with the utmost faith in Divine Providence, they started a community among themselves in Manila. Corazon, strong willed and courageous, sold her business and gave all the proceeds to this new community of seven which she was about to found. They took Mary Queen of Heaven as their Patroness, the woman clothed in the sun, the moon at her feet, and a crown of twelve stars on her head (Rev. 12:1). Grace upon grace was bestowed on the good Sisters and more chosen souls from various parts of Cebu, Bohol, Pampanga and even two from California joined them. On August 4, 2000, His Eminence, Ricardo Cardinal Vidal, Archbishop of Cebu, formally established the Institute of Mary Queen of Heaven Missionaries as a Catholic Association of the faithful, giving his full support and fatherly guidance. On August 22, 2003, he canonically erected it as a Public Association of the Faithful, with Sr. Ma. Corazon Salazar, MQHM as Mother Foundress. Wedded to the glorious path of Christ, the sisters wholeheartedly surrendered themselves to God’s special design of salvation for the victims horrifically trapped in the sex-trafficking trade. With Mary, they search and bring back to the bosom of the Father, the lost women of Paradise. As they go out at night and penetrate the “red light districts”, the Sisters listen attentively to the outpouring of the problems of the older girls and recognize they have a thirst for God and hope of rescue from their unspeakable life. Through the miraculous touch of the “Mother of Mercy” and the warm embrace and open hearts of the Sisters, many regain direction towards a second chance and renewed life with God in MQHM Home of Love. Brought together by the “Hand of God”, they aspire to imitate Mary’s virtues through their evangelical vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, making Her their model in following the footsteps of Jesus Christ. Their commitment to “total surrender” and “endless sacrifice” enables them to embrace the “Cross of Compassion” communicated by the Savior to the Mother of Sorrows at the foot of the Cross. Through the sisters’ acts of love, their fatigue and pains which they unite with the passion and death of Jesus and the sorrows of Mary, their hearts become the altar of endless sacrifice and perfect oblation to the Eternal Father. They live together in one heart and one soul, to be a “creation of new hope” for the destitute women of society who have become slaves of sexual perversion. Armed with their trusting faith in God and with the “Crown of Power” of the Queen of Heaven, with Her angels and Her weapons of salvation (the Holy Rosary and the Brown Scapular), they shall conquer triumphantly the enemies of womanhood in the north, south, west and east of the Philippines and the whole world bringing glorious souls to God. Please find it in your hearts to share your many blessings with children who have nowhere to go to escape their unspeakable situation.
