Mission Statement
Lanai Cat Sanctuary is dedicated to helping homeless and unwanted cats on the Hawaiian island of Lanai. The sanctuary saves lives by ensuring that cats are living in a safe environment, either at its outdoor sanctuary, or in adoptive homes. By spaying and neutering homeless cats, and relocating them to the sanctuary, we also are helping to protect the island’s native birds. We expand the circle of compassion by serving as a model of “out-of-the-brick-and-mortar” approach to sheltering cats.
About This Cause
Lanai Cat Sanctuary assists homeless and unwanted cats on the Hawaiian island of Lanai, by providing shelter, sustenance, adoption, veterinary care, spay/neuter services and humane education. We provide a novel and fresh approach by housing cats in an outdoor environment that takes advantage of Lanai’s near-perfect weather. The cats dwell in a setting that helps minimize stress and maximize health and well-being. By spaying and neutering homeless cats, and relocating them to the sanctuary, we also are helping to protect the island’s native birds. Lanai Cat Sanctuary serves as a model for stewardship and responsible management that inspires others to consider innovative solutions for helping homeless cats in their communities.
