Mission Statement
SARES-RG is dedicated to providing emergency communications through amateur radio. While it is primarily committed to supporting the city of Sunnyvale, CA, its resources are also available to other communities in Santa Clara county.
About This Cause
SARES-RG is a volunteer organization of FCC licensed amateur radio operators. It is aligned with the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety to provide an alternate communication capability during community emergencies. SARES-RG owns, maintains, and operates a radio repeater that is accessible to area ham radio operators and to city and county emergency operations centers. The repeater is located on Crystal Peak in the Santa Cruz Mountains giving it extensive communications capabilities over all of the Santa Clara Valley. As a result, it is also used by other Santa Clara communities and organizations for radio communications during social events such as bicycle rallies, marathons, festivals and other events. When not being used for emergency operation or community events, the Crystal Peak Repeater is open for used by all licensed amateur operators. SARES-RG is a IRS 501(c)(3) charity, all donations are used for operation and support of the Crystal Peak repeater.
