About This Cause

My Possibilities is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving adults with disabilities (Autism, Down Syndrome, Aspergers, Prader-Willi, head injuires, etc.). More specifically, the organization is the FIRST full day, full year continuing education program in Collin County for disabled Texans who have “aged out” of secondary education. My Possibilities began as the vision of three mothers of adult children with special needs in the Collin County area. In the spring of 2006, their children were soon to “graduate” high school. As a result, these dedicated moms began to investigate the opportunities for their children beyond high school. No programs or services existed in the North Texas area providing regular, full-time, quality, continuing education programs where their adult children could continue to learn, grow, volunteer, work and be a contributing member of their community. After a few small meetings, a few town hall meetings and a lot of hard work, the dream became a reality and My Possibilities opened in June of 2008. Today, My Possibilities is considered a leader in the local community and throughout North Texas providing vocational training, socialization opportunities, and independent living skills development for adults with disabilities. As the need continues to grow in our community, we are currently seeking new ways to expand our facilities and outreach in the North Texas area in hopes to continue to be the best option for families of this much under-served population. My Possibilities offers a variety of programs: Achieve Program – HIPsters focus on reading/writing skills, personal wellness, home economics and development of social and vocational skills (8:00am – 2:00pm). Explore Program – offers programming that is designed to be innovative and enriching in the areas of personal goal development, physical wellness and social interaction through community centered opportunities (2:00pm – 6:00pm). Create Program – offers programming designed to give HIPsters the opportunity to discover their hidden talents and self expression through art (2:00pm – 6:00pm). University Program – offers our higher skilled HIPsters the opportunity to more fully develop their vocational skills and be exposed to resume writing and proper interview techniques (2:00pm- 6:00pm). MP HIPStore – our latest development, provides a retail outlet for HIPster’s hand crafted items featuring; candles, jewelry, artwork and more. (10:00am – 6:00pm).
