Samantha’s Purpose is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization. Our mission is to raise Cerebral Palsy Awareness, provide fundingto programs, schools, and camps that are fully inclusive and improve the quality of life of children with Cerebral Palsy and their siblings, providefinancial support and guidance to families of children with Cerebral Palsy, and advocate for changes in the community that promote the inclusion of those living with special needs.

About This Cause

Samantha’s Purpose was co-founded by Jose “Manny” Garcia and Michelle Coffey-Garcia to fulfill a promise to their daughter, Samantha, who lives with Cerebral Palsy. Since the inception, this organization has been providing financial assistance with the cost of medical expenses, special needs equipment, traditional therapy services, art and music therapy programs, 3-week intensive therapy scholarships, summer camp scholarships, and group summer swimming lessons for children with Cerebral Palsy. “We believe that everyone is created with a purpose, no matter your limitations. Samantha’s diagnosis has a PURPOSE.” – Michelle Coffey-Garcia Samantha’s Purpose also brought Cerebral Palsy Awareness (the most common motor disability in children according to the CDC), to Miami-Dade County in 2014 by organizing the Run, Walk & Stroll 2K for Cerebral Palsy. This is the only CP awareness event in the South Florida area. On March 25th, National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day, Samantha’s Purpose coordinates with the management of major landmarks and buildings throughout Miami-Dade County to ILLUMINATE GREEN. In 2015, Samantha’s Purpose was successful in having the month of March recognized as Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month in the State of Florida (H.R. 9057 – Sponsored by Representative Eric Fresen). Our mission has been further expanded in light of the COVID-19 Pandemic, as well as other local tragic events surrounding special needs children and their families, to include grants for essential needs (groceries, medical and personal care supplies, etc.) and respite care for families with children with Cerebral Palsy and Traumatic Brain Injury who have been negatively affected financially by the pandemic.
