Mission Statement

The Saucon Valley Foundation for Educational Innovation’s mission is to provide innovative learning opportunities for children in the Saucon Valley School District. Since inception, we have raised private funds and in-kind donations for projects, programs, and creative experiences beyond the scope of the school budget for students in grades K-12.

About This Cause

Who We Are We are a volunteer group of parents and members of the community who want to ensure the continued success of current Saucon Valley students, as well as that of future generations. The Foundation is an autonomous, non-profit corporation recognized as tax exempt under Section 501C(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is separate and distinct from the Board of Education. Trustees administer all activities and funds. What We Do The Foundation provides funding for creative and innovative learning opportunities for students and teachers that are beyond the scope of the school budget. The Foundation raises private funds to be used by the schools for projects and creative learning opportunities for all students K-12. Foundation funds are not intended to substitute or replace existing taxpayer funding. Instead, they serve to supplement existing programs through three major initiatives—Small Grants, 21st Century Excellence, and the Environmental Education Center. Together, these programs provide teachers with the tools they need to enhance the educational experience for students and contribute to their successful future in our increasingly complex and interconnected world. SMALL GRANTS, funded annually, encourage innovation in seven target areas. The Technology & Learning Fund supports programs that promote the use of emerging technologies and provides experiences that will prepare students for the workplace of the future. The Arts & Education Fund seeks to provide experiences in the fine, visual and performing arts that will enhance existing programs, promote greater student participation and lay the groundwork for a life long appreciation of the arts, for students, faculty, and the community. The Cultural Enrichment Fund supports projects and partnerships that generate cross-cultural appreciation so that students, faculty and community might be enriched by, and prepared for, life and work in an increasingly interdependent global society. The Scholastic Enhancement Fund stimulates the examination of bold ideas, questions and concepts outside, but related to, the core curriculum. The Health & Wellness Fund supports programs that allow students to build healthy life habits that provide the fitness and stamina required for school and life. The Entrepreneurship Fund supports programs focused on increasing student interest in our free enterprise system through exposure to business education, the changing economy and the critical role entrepreneurship plays in our society. The Professional Development Fund enables district teachers and administrators to pursue professional training experiences not available through traditional resources. The 21st CENTURY EXCELLENCE GRANTS started in 2014 with a focus on 3 areas 1) Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, 2) Communication Literacy and 3) College and Career Readiness. These larger grants are renewable for up to 3 years. The ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTER (EEC) serves as an outdoor classroom for students to engage with actual examples of environmental conservation, native biology, invasive species, water quality investigation, habitat enhancement, and ecological succession.
