Our mission is to inspire and enable students to achieve their highest level of independence and academic success. We believe that students with autism have tremendous potential when given the right support.
About This Cause
A School created by and for families affected by Autism, The Independence Academy offers both support and understanding, not just to students, but to the entire family. In 2008, Susan LeVay and Ruth Padgett, mothers of sons with HFA, shared a vision of a school they could not find anywhere in Indianapolis. They envisioned a school that would challenge students academically without overwhelming them. With a very small student-teacher ratio of 6:1 and educators who are passionate about teaching students with HFA, students make progress in a caring and encouraging environment.
