Mission Statement
shaggy dog rescue is a small rescue in houston, texas. dedicated to saving"last chance' dogs from the high kill shelters., we then find the perfect forever homes for them with loving families
About This Cause
we annually take in over 200 dogs, all generally in need of.. spay/neuter, all shots, heart worm treatment, many have mange or have been abused and neglected, many have been injured and require extensive surgery, all of our dogs are placed in foster homes until we can find them the perfect new forever home, many of the dogs take months to heal and require intensive treatments to bring back to good health, we keep over 30 dogs in our rescue at any one time, our vets expenses in 2014 were over $250,000 for 235 dogs and puppies, the average dog in good health will cost us approx $500+ to get ready for adoption, if we need to treat for heart worms and complete surgery it can run into the thousands to save the dog, we are always grateful for any donations to our rescue
