Mission Statement
HELPING PEOPLE OVERCOME BARRIERS THROUGH MOVEMENT AND PLAY. PKV IS A 501(c)3 NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION.
About This Cause
We believe that parkour is one of the most powerful pathways to long-lasting and sustainable physical, emotional, and social health. As a sport, it provides a path over many obstacles blocking people engaging in life-long fitness, including ease of access, affordability, quality information, and need for encouragement. INCREASING ACCESS Because we believe strongly in the physical and social-emotional benefits of parkour, we have tried to make parkour accessible to people of all ages, abilities, and life circumstances. Toward that end, we have provided over $102,000 of scholarships into our programs, as well as offered hundreds of free classes, community events, and online learning resources ACROSS GENERATIONS & GEOGRAPHY PKV has been working with adults 18+ and youth ages 3-17 in and around Seattle for 10 years. This work includes weekly classes at a dedicated facility, partner programs with schools and youth centers throughout the Seattle area, and collaborations with local parks organizations. Two programs from our current year include: RETHINKING P.E & AFTERSCHOOL RECREATION Partnership with The Associated Recreation Council, Kings County, & Seattle Parks In 2018, PKV partnered up with ARC & Seattle Parks to offer over 30 subsidized parkour afterschool programs and summer camps to lower income community centers in north Seattle. We have served over 150 students so far, ages 8-14, and recently won a major grant to expand our programs into centers in south Seattle through the 2019 year.
