Mission Statement
FOSEL provides direct financial and in kind support for programs for children, adults, and the whole neighborhood and it raises funds for physical improvements (equipment and the building). The organization is all volunteer.
About This Cause
With direct financial and in kind donations the Friends supplement the Boston Public Library's budget for programs that the staff want for the branch library. Children, adults and the community as a whole benefit from these additions. Workshops for music, art, and dance are paid for. Performances, author readings, and neighborhood celebrations are also supported. The Friends help the staff coordinate with the city on behalf of the library and the Library Park abutting the building. The most recent undertaking of the Friends has been to initiate a public/private campaign to renovate the branch.
