About This Cause

Living Water Children's Centre (dba Living Water Children's Fund) LWCF supports projects that have a direct, measurable impact on the well being and/or academic education of children in need around the world. LWCF focuses on projects that are in regions or countries that have limited access to funding resources or where funding resources are insufficient to meet the needs of children. At Living Water Children’s Fund, we believe that when children have their basic needs met and are cared for, supported and loved, no matter what challenges they face, they find it easier to grow and flourish. Living Water Children’s Fund is always open to new projects that have a direct, measurable impact on the well being and/or academic education of needy children. LWCF focuses on projects that are in regions or countries that have limited access to funding resources or where funding resources are insufficient to meet the needs of children. HISTORY In 2008, Sherry Fine, a former volunteer, established LWCC Fund as a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and developed a Board of Directors to oversee Living Water Children’s Centre located in Arusha, Tanzania. Since then, Living Water Children's Fund has expanded its scope to include many projects around the world, primarily in Africa, Guatemala and Haiti. The Board is mainly comprised of former volunteers representing the U.K. and U.S. states including, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, Florida, Colorado, Alaska and Washington. Since the Board was established, Living Water Children's Fund has received incredible support from generous donors whose funds have made it possible to meet many of the needs of less fortunate children around the world. Our current projects include: - Dorothy Schwartz Community Centre: a school in Mukuru slum in Nairobi, Kenya - Sherry Fine Academy: a school in an area of Dar Es Salaam characterized by poverty and illiteracy. It is educating more than seventy youngsters between the ages of four and seven. - Eagle Kindergarten: a kindergarten giving children an education they wouldn't otherwise receive in Jacmel, Haiti. - SAKALA- Located in the notorious slum of Cite Soleil in Port au Prince. Started in 2006, SAKALA blends sports with your leadership education, after-school activities, gardening, community development, and peace education in a safe environment to empower youth. - Joanne McManus Academy: a primary school located in the outskirts of Dar Es Salaam - Living Water Children Centre: A centre dedicated to the care, education, and advocacy of disadvantaged children in Arusha, Tanzania.
