Mission Statement
Circle of Care provides emotional, practical and financial assistance to children and families, from day of diagnosis through treatment and beyond, with programs and services that meet the unique and challenging needs of pediatric cancer treatment.
About This Cause
When a child is diagnosed with cancer, it isn’t just a life-altering event; unlike the experience for most adults, things move very quickly. Pediatric cancer patients, and their families, cannot wait for support to reach them – a network must be present and activated immediately. The Circle of Care occupies a unique niche in the market, and is a valued partner with the Connecticut medical community. The Circle of Care provides direct financial, practical and emotional support to children with cancer and their families, from diagnosis through treatment and recovery. When a child has cancer, we’re there to help. We wish we could find a cure for pediatric cancer, but until that day, our focus is on helping each child, and their family, through the toughest part of their journey – the treatment. Because children need more than medicine to heal. Circle of Care offers unique programs that support the non-medical needs of children with cancer, like Bags of Love, which provides everyday essentials to ease the burden of hospitalization, or Lifeline, a support network that connects survivor families with newly diagnosed ones. Art From the Heart is a program that gives children undergoing treatment something to look forward to – a total room makeover – conducted by volunteers. Circle of Care also provides much-needed Emergency Funds to help pay families' rent, mortgages, utilities, gas and grocery bills. We have volunteers in both hospitals in CT that serve the pediatric cancer community - Yale New Haven Health and Connecticut Children's Medical Center - to give parents some relief and activities for the children. And we launched an Adolescent & Young Adult program to provide social and educational opportunities for this unique age group. All services are offered free of charge to patients who reside in Connecticut. The Circle of Care was founded in 2004 by three innovative and entrepreneurial women whose children battled cancer. They built the program steadily over the years, earning the trust and respect of the medical community, corporations, foundations and individual donors. They have formed enduring partnerships with the likes of Yale New Haven Hospital and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Over the last 20 years, Circle of Care has reached 3000 families, delivering Bags Of Love to every newly diagnosed child and family, transforming 160 rooms through Art from the Heart and provided over $3,000,000 in direct financial support – which has had a direct and positive impact to the families we serve.
