Mission Statement

Friends of MADACC (Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting community awareness and improving the welfare of the nearly 12,000 homeless and neglected animals MADACC cares for every year.

About This Cause

Friends of MADACC is managed by a board of directors and with the help of volunteers provides wellness programs that focus on helping low income families keep their pets healthy; education programs that focus on educating youth on the importance of treating their pet as a family member and resisting pressure to engage in acts of cruelty. Spay and neuter programs also help reduce the pet overpopulation in Milwaukee County. Friends of MADACC also uses its resources to provide an enriching environment for the homeless animals during their stay at MADACC. A few of the projects that Friends of MADACC has funded include 15 outdoor kennels that are used for adoption events during the warmer months, a new outdoor exercise and play yard for the dogs to burn off energy and work on obedience, and Cat Condos for the MADACC lobby that allow the cats to be comfortable, less stressed and move visible to potential adopters. Friends of MADACC also funded the Kitten Commando Program and a full time Kitten Commando Foster Coordinator position in 2016. They provide funding for surgical equipment, leashes, collars and any miscellaneous items that MADACC requires. To ensure that every dog has a chance to find a loving forever home, Friends of MADACC also funds special adoption programs such as the Pit Bull Proud Adoption Program and the Cheeseheads Program.
