Mission Statement
The primary mission of Global Surgical Outreach is to reduce the global burden of surgical disease through education, development of medical infrastructure, and the provision of pro bono reconstructive surgery both in the US and for children in the less developed world with facial deformities or otolaryngology problems. We believe the education of surgeons, nurses, and other health care workers is vital to a sustainable and effective program to relieve the burden of surgical diseases around world. We believe we can best accomplish our mission by developing innovative approaches and partnering with other organizations when there is synergy.
About This Cause
We have several projects underway . There is an annual trip to the Hospital Loma de Luz in Balfate, Honduras to help provide healthcare for the local community in both the clinic and the operating room. This mission trip has been ongoing for nearly a decade, with the physicians from University of Washington chapter beginning in 2015. Last year, we saw over 50 patients and performed over 20 surgeries. The next trip is scheduled for March 27th to April 2nd 2017. Please donate for our cause and support the local community in Balfate, Honduras, a region that otherwise has minimal access to healthcare. We are also hoping to raise funds to help build a hospital in Ghana!
