Mission Statement
SFM Foundation was created in 2008 by SFM Companies, a regional workers' compensation insurance group headquartered in Bloomington, Minnesota. While SFM remains a major sponsor of the Foundation, the vast majority of scholarships have been awarded to the families of injured workers who are not insured by SFM. Since its inception, SFM Foundation has awarded scholarships to 216 students whose parents were severely injured or killed in workplace accidents. SFM Foundation was created to have a positive impact on the community, and the scope of that impact grows with every family who can be helped by these scholarships.
About This Cause
To our friends and colleagues, We are helping make post-secondary schooling possible for children of parents killed or seriously injured on the job. We invite you to join us. Your financial support to the SFM Foundation will go directly into providing scholarships for these young people. The scholarships are substantial. Each is up to $15,000 per year and can receive scholarships annually through graduation from a two-year or four-year college, university, vocational school or graduate school. The Foundation awards scholarships to a growing number of applicants each year. The greater your generosity, the more students we can help. Many of our supporters tell us how gratifying it is to see these young people able to go on to higher education to become the citizens and leaders of the future.
