Mission Statement
Gentle Ben’s Giant Breed Rescue is a non-profit, 501 (c)(3) large breed dog rescue whose primary concern is assisting families who may be in an unfortunate circumstance. Such circumstances could include losing their home due to foreclosure, being involved in a divorce, military obligations, loss of a job, a family member with a medical issue or death of a family member. Our goal is to assist these families who may have a beloved dog who they can no longer care for. We will take in their dog to help give the family peace of mind knowing they will be safe and well cared for and will be fostered in our home instead of having to be taken to a shelter. We provide the family with updates and pictures and will let them know if and when their dog is placed with a new family. Even at that point, any updates we receive from their new family, we will forward onto the original family so that they know they are happy and safe and with a family who loves them. Some of the dogs we foster and eventually place in a new home have become therapy dogs. We’ve placed dogs with families who have an autistic child. It’s amazing how much a dog can help a child what that type of condition. When we take in a dog, he/she become part of our family until we can find the perfect new home, however long it takes. If we can’t, then that dog will have a permanent home with us. All dogs are fostered in our home. All are well socialized prior to adoption We make sure that each dog is fully vetted, vaccinated, heartworm tested, de-wormed, spayed/neutered, and microchipped before being placed in a new home. We are very patient and careful in matching up a family to a particular dog. We take this very seriously as these dogs have been through enough and we want to make sure their next home is their forever home. Our entire operation solely runs on the donations we receive, plus we use our own funds to help support the rescue. Our short-term goal is to care for the dogs currently in rescue. Our long-term goal is to be here to assist and care for the dogs who will need our help in the future.
