About This Cause
The Williston Food Shelf is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating hunger in the towns of Williston, St. George & Richmond. Our mission is to provide high-quality food to those in need in our community, and to connect those community members and families with essential support services. We have no paid staff and are run by volunteers. We partner with the Vermont Food Bank (our state's connection to America's Second Harvest Network) and existing organizations such as churches, youth groups, community service organizations, local businesses, schools, and the Town of Williston. We encourage local food drives, and Williston's "Plant a Row for the Hungry" initiative. We also receive donations from local restaurants and grocery stores to provide healthy, nutritious food for families and individuals in need. Private fundraising supports purchases of food from the Vermont Food Bank, local stores, and the cost of our physical site. Our organization is 100% funded through private donations, and no officer or volunteer is compensated for their time or effort.
