Mission Statement

Uganda Village Project improves health in rural Uganda through village-level public health interventions focusing on access, education, and prevention to common diseases. Our projects aim to provide access to family planning, improve hygiene and sanitation, repair obstetric fistula, and build wells to provide safe water.

About This Cause

Since 2003, Uganda Village Project (UVP) has been working with the people of Iganga to promote public health and sustainable development in the rural communities of this marginalized district in southeast Uganda. As an international nonprofit organization, we work directly with community-based organizations and local government to utilize local knowledge and maximize community ownership. Our innovative, grassroots approach to addressing rural healthcare and public health in Uganda works at a village-level and addresses the most pressing healthcare concerns of each community including: household sanitation and hygiene, borehole week construction and repair, youth reproductive health and family planning and obstetric fistula surgical treatment. Our programs build the capacity of local residents who sustainably carry forward the knowledge and skills that they gain.
