At Tilting Futures, we envision a world where communities work across differences to solve our most complex challenges. To make this vision a reality, we equip young people worldwide to create meaningful impact on global issues. These young changemakers, when given the opportunity and guidance to transform their ideals into action, can become the capable and courageous citizens our world needs.
About This Cause
At Tilting Futures, we envision a thriving future where communities work across lines of difference to solve the world’s most complex challenges. Since our founding in 2010, we have worked to make this vision a reality by equipping young people with the tools of self-awareness and global orientation they need to create meaningful impact on issues locally and globally. To do this, Tilting Futures runs immersive learning programs that bring global cohorts of young people to cultures and communities other than their own. Our flagship program is Take Action Lab, which builds upon over a decade of experience by strengthening our commitment to equity and accessibility while strengthening key skills young people will need to thrive in their personal and professional lives, and to enact positive change within their communities. Through these programs, we work with tomorrow’s world-changers at the critical crossroads of higher education to help them broaden their perspectives, learn durable skills like collaboration and empathy that will help them succeed in the workforce, and connect passion and purpose to inform their lives. Through Take Action Lab, we serve more than 250 young people from an average of 30+ countries annually. In their programs, students spend 4 weeks in our virtual Foundations course, which teaches them about key concepts such as systems thinking, cultural humility, and curiosity. After Foundations, students travel to Cape Town, South Africa where they spend 14 weeks in-country living in shared housing, participating in facilitated learning sessions, and apprenticing with local human rights organizations. By the end of their programs, students report feeling more hopeful about the future, having enhanced abilities to communicate across lines of difference, and feel a clearer sense of purpose for their lives. After their programs, students join an engaged global network of 3,000+ alumni representing over 200 countries and communities. We offer our alumni dedicated pathways to continued local and global service after graduation through our Alumni Ambassador program, professional development courses, mentorship opportunities, and partnerships with organizations such as the Peace Corps, Mentee, Boulevard, and more.
