Mission Statement
The Foundation for UCP of Sacramento and Northern California funds the future of today's children through UCP of Sacramento and Northern California which is the leading provider of comprehensive services to children and adults with all developmental disabilities and their families. About This Cause
UCP’s mission is to provide programs and services that improve the independence, productivity, and quality of life of people with development disabilities and their families. UCP's services are vital to improving well being of people of all ages with developmental disabilities. Today, 1 in 59 children are diagnosed with autism, estimated to be the most expensive developmental disability to provide care for, costing a lifetime average of 1.4 million dollars. A 2017 report indicated that only 14% of adults with autism held a paid job in the community. UCP serves children and adults with over 20 types of developmental disability, including 51% autism, 34% intellectual disability, 9% cerebral palsy, 6% Down syndrome, epilepsy, and many other types of disability. UCP’s motto is “Life without limits for people with disabilities”. UCP was started in Sacramento in 1955 and serves 6,004 children, adults and their families a month in Sacramento, Yolo, Placer, El Dorado, Nevada, Butte, Shasta and Sutter counties. UCP provides services that include an after-school program for children with autism, adapted horsemanship activities, adult day programs serving 325, independent living services, in-home respite care for families providing 21,500 hours/month of service, 125,400 miles/month of transportation and recreational programs. UCP is dedicated to empower people with developmental disabilities to live life without limits. The money raised in our service area stays in our community. In fact, 90 cents of every dollar received by UCP is reinvested back into programs and services for children, adults and their families.
