Mission Statement
The mission of Dress for Success® is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
About This Cause
SUITING PROGRAM HOW IT WORKS Dress for Success Phoenix provides each woman with one suit when she has a job interview. When she successfully lands a job, she returns to Dress for Success for a week’s worth of business appropriate separates. She also receives an invitation to join the Professional Women’s Group, our employment retention service. WHY IT WORKS Dress for Success Phoenix serves job-ready women, by referral only, from nonprofit organizations including domestic violence agencies, homeless shelters, and job-training programs. Our programs transition women towards self-sufficiency by offering them the confidence boost and encouragement that will help her succeed in her interview and the retention programs that enable her to grow professionally and personally. FAST TRACK TO SUCCESS helps unemployed and under-employed Dress for Success clients gain professional skills, accelerate their job search and build confidence through a week long training sessions, one-on-one career coaching and networking in a supportive environment. The program serves as a "safety-net" for women who are referred to our Suiting Program and Career Center at the beginning of their job search, but are facing barriers to land employment. PROFESSIONAL WOMEN'S GROUP The Professional Women’s Group is an international networking association for Dress for Success Phoenix clients who have recently entered the workforce. Many women enter the workplace after lengthy economic challenges in a competitive job market while many are employed for the first time. The PWG’s primary goal is success. We accomplish this by promoting employment retention and career advancement and providing valuable skill-building information while creating a safe environment to network with other professionals. It is the first and only employment retention model that moves low-income women towards self-sufficiency by addressing their social and economic needs in relation to work, home, and community. Why It Works: Women making the transition from unemployment into the workforce face a myriad of challenges, from understanding corporate culture to handling personal finances, often with no support or guidance. The Professional Women’s Group provides a Master Mind environment where women support each other to find solutions and take steps forward to financial health. How It Works: Members attend monthly networking meetings, based on a variety of career development and financial literacy topics. Each meeting consists of two key components: an expert speaker leading an informational discussion and a networking period. In addition to monthly meetings, members receive opportunities for career coaching, mentoring, discounts on various products and services, and additional clothing and accessories to complete a working wardrobe. MOBILE CAREER CENTER was developed and launched in 2015 due to the high number of no shows that we were experiencing. The reasons the clients couldn't come get an interview suit were transportation and child care. We built a mobile that is able to go out to remote locations to serve clients that aren't able to make it to our boutique. We are also able to participate in job fairs and community events.
