Mission Statement
We are dedicated to the well being and deserving care of animals large and small, young and old, healthy and in need.
About This Cause
Heavenly Paws of Michigan was formed as a non-profit organization in 2009 to save animals in overcrowded high-kill shelters, animals who were surrendered due to poor economic conditions leading to foreclosure and animals who were surrendered due to their owner going into Hospice care. In 2015, we rescued over 300 dogs and cats from shelters, the outdoors and other neglectful situations. We also took possession of over 20 animals who were surrendered to our rescue organization by their owners due to poor health or financial problems. The average cost for vet care for the dogs and cats rescued from the shelters is $350 each. We only charge $50 for cat/kitten and $150 for dog adoption fees so the difference of $200 per animal has to be paid for through funds raised. We travel to shelters throughout the state of Michigan and transport animals from shelters to our foster parents and other rescue organizations. We do not have a shelter location so we rely on foster parents to take animals into their homes until we find permanent homes for them. We have also begun to spay and neuter feral cats that live in colonies in the Detroit Metro area. We also pull the kittens from the colonies and socialize them so they can become house cats instead of living in a colony. Strategic Focus Areas: 1. Provide spaying/neutering, vaccinations and medical treatment to dogs and cats rescued from high-kill animal shelters. 2. Place rescued pets in foster care homes. 3. Place rescued pets in permanent homes. 4. Provide wellness care and forever home placement for surrendered pets. 5. Recruit, organize and train volunteers to fulfill the mission of Heavenly Paws of Michigan.
