Mission Statement

Founded in 2009, Colorado Asian Culture and Education Network's mission is to elevate the Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities and address inequities through cultural exchange and education. As a 15-year-old nonprofit, CACEN is an anchor organization that brings our highly diverse AANHPI communities together.

About This Cause

CACEN's programming falls under four main categories: Community Health & Wellness - CACEN is dedicated to health equity and improving the well-being of AANHPI communities. We address our communities' unique mental, behavioral, and physical health challenges and nurture a resilient community where every individual has the opportunity to thrive in their health and wellness journey. Uplifting Stories - Through events like the Asian Hero Awards and our partnership with Asian Avenue Magazine, we uplift the stories and experiences of AANHPI community members. Our work often serves as an entry point for others to learn more about AANHPIs in Colorado. Community Empowerment - We respond to current events to empower the community and advocate for our needs, such as voter education, Asian hate and resilience programs, and leadership development. Resource Hub - CACEN is a trusted organization that the community seeks out for support and connection to resources. This year, we are developing an AANHPI leaders database and community center. CACEN is also focused on creating the first Asian American community center, “Social Fabric,” in the Denver Metro area. The center would provide services for immigrant and refugee communities, host cultural events, house a library highlighting AANHPI authors and history, and feature local Asian-owned businesses. Social Fabric would increase the visibility of our AANHPI communities and provide a sense of belonging and cultural pride for AANHPI Coloradans. Colorado’s history with AANHPI community enclaves has a violent past, dating back to the destruction of Denver’s Chinatown in 1870. In the 150 years since we have not had a community center to form the backbone of a true cultural gathering place. With recent growth, our communities feel the need more than ever for a safe place to call our own.
