About This Cause
Because International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to alleviating poverty. Kenton Lee founded the organization in 2009 after being inspired to create a growing shoe while working with children at an orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya. Since then, over 400,000 pairs of The Shoe That Grows have been distributed in 100 countries, and it’s being produced in Kenya, bringing jobs to one of the areas where The Shoe is distributed most. Now we’re using what we’ve learned to train entrepreneurs who have their own innovative products through the Because Accelerator, helping local leaders create local jobs and elevate their communities.
