Mission Statement
Our mission is to Make Travel Better. For You. With You. We advocate in Washington DC for all travelers and we educate them on their travel rights. We work regularly with DOT, Congress, and other travel stakeholders to improve travel for passengers. Travelers United is the leading consumer advocacy organization working with DOT, DOJ, FAA, airlines, and other stakeholders in DC.

About Travelers United: -- Started in 2009 as Consumer Travel Alliance; changed name in April 2014 to Travelers United --Became a membership organization dedicated to travelers in June 2014 --First member of the Advisory Committee for Aviation Consumer Protections (monitors compliance with and investigates violations of the Department of Transportation’s aviation economic, consumer protection, and civil rights requirements) --Instrumental in: • increasing consumer compensation when denied boarding • increasing lost/delayed/damaged compensation from airlines • allowing passengers to change or cancel their tickets within 24 hours of purchase • Greyhound’s decision to keep bus stations open for stranded passengers • reducing long wait times at borders (with the cooperation of Customs and Border Control) • representing consumers to repeal resort fees • Only consumer travel organization to bring together the Department of Transportation and the Federal Trade Commission to discuss all travel issues • Staff meets regularly with the travel industry (Airlines, cruise lines, hotels, NAAG, Google, Southwest, etc.) and with representatives in Congress and their staff to discuss consumer issues with regards to travel • Leading the hotel fee/junk fee changes today. • Bringing lawsuits against social media influencers who are not following FTC Rules. • Filing law suits against restaurants who are charging extra fees beyond menu prices.
