Mission Statement
Tell Every Amazing Lady offers women’s health and wellness services, including public awareness and education of the signs, symptoms and risk factors of ovarian cancer, provides support to those impacted by the disease, and raises funds for research in order to find a screening test and a cure.
About This Cause
Only 14% of women report being aware of the symptoms of ovarian cancer. 77% of those with ovarian cancer were diagnosed with an advanced late stage of the disease. There is currently no accurate screening test for ovarian cancer. The Pap smear does not test for ovarian cancer. It is the leading cause of death among gynecological cancers in the United States and the fifth leading cause of cancer deaths among U.S. women. Ovarian cancer survival rates are much lower than other cancers that affect women. Tell Every Amazing Lady About Ovarian Cancer Louisa M. McGregor Ovarian Cancer Foundation, also known as T.E.A.L.®, is a grassroots 501C3 not-for-profit organization founded by two sisters from Brooklyn, NY, in 2009 after Louisa McGregor’s diagnosis of ovarian cancer. At the time, the sisters were surprised by the lack of disease-specific events and support networks available to them. As a result of the absence of ovarian cancer research funding, women across the country lacked the awareness, treatment options, and ability to diagnose: all factors incredibly vital to these women in order to overcome the disease. Founded as a volunteer-driven startup to educate the public, support survivors, and promote scientific research, T.E.A.L.® has become a national movement with a home in the heart of Brooklyn, NY.
