Providing quality educational opportunities for children from marginalized communities in rural south India.
About This Cause
Communities Rising's educational programs include: 1) Accelerated Learning Program- shares best teaching practices and instruction in English, math, and computer education for over 2,600 teachers and students in 25 schools in the Villupuram District of Tamil Nadu. 2) After School Program - provides students in rural villages with coaching in English and math. 3) Reading Rickshaw - brings thousands of story books on a regular basis to each of our students’ schools, none of which have school or community libraries. 4) Robotics Education - teaches over 500 students in 5 area schools in grades 3-10 how to build and program LEGO robots. Coaching is provided for teams competing in regional and national robotic competitions. 5) Summer Camp - exposes our students to athletics, the arts, and STEM activities in an informal residential environment. 6) CR Scholars Program- provides financial assistance and guidance to CR college students.
