Mission Statement
The Santa Barbara Birth Center is a non-profit corporation established to provide education, support and services to women and their families during the childbearing years, working within the midwifery model of care and in collaboration with the greater medical community.
About This Cause
The Santa Barbara Birth Center welcomes donations for its Birth Subsidy Fund, which offers financial assistance to low-income families seeking our care. Midwife means "with woman". We help our clients get the information they need to make their own best healthcare decisions. The SB Birth Center focuses on individual care, with an emphasis on client education, community building, informed consent, and evidence-based care. We spend an hour at every prenatal and postpartum appointment. We have very low rates of intervention and a 4% c-section rate, compared to the national c-section rate of over 30%. We have very high breastfeeding rates- nearly 100% at one year. Our clients feel loved and supported and return to our care for their subsequent births.
