Mission Statement
The mission of Starfish Animal Rescue is to rescue animals from high kill, high intake shelters, provide transportation of these animals to secure non-kill establishments, to promote and facilitate responsible pet ownership and to intervene in cases of animal cruelty. We commit to eliminating euthanasia of companion animal in North America one shelter at a time.
About This Cause
Starfish Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) foster based rescue that was established initially in 2009. We work with 2 high volume high intake Animal shelters in South East Kentucky in a very impoverished area - this is for 5 counties. We rescue dogs and cats every other week out of these shelters and provide transportation to our rescue partners in Illinois Indiana Wisconsin and Michigan. We also assist with their community animals with urgent medical needs and established a program to spay and neuter cats and dogs in the community thereby creating less animals in need of rescue. We are running a program called Hip to Snip as part of a grant to provide low cost spay/neuter services to 4 of the 5 counties from which we rescue. This is not without a significant cost to our organization but is providing a valuable service to that area. We have to date helped Rescue over 50,000 Animals in need and we are 100% volunteer organization. All donations go to help the animals in need. We appreciate any support we can receive.
