About This Cause
Eau Claire Promise Zone is a non-profit, non-partisan charity organization operating under the US Internal Revenue Service's section 501(c)(3). We provide services to children and families in a low-income section of Columbia, South Carolina USA (ZIP Code 29203). Projects over the years have included educational workshops for our local childcare center owners, assisting Eau Claire High School students with college scholarship applications, organizing special interest discussion groups on the Facebook social media platform on topics of educational equity and health disparities, planting food gardens at local schools, and best program of all: overseeing "GO Forward," an inter-generational after-school program where the village's senior citizens tutor the village's young kids. From 2011 to 2014, we received several major financial contributions from late great Prince, gifts made in honor of his late great drummer, John Blackwell who grew up in Eau Claire. Now Prince fans around the world are making small donations in their names to carry our good work forward in 29203.
