Mission Statement
Our mission is to bring support and aid to families with missing loved ones. The primary mission of PaWSAR is the safe return of a missing loved one to their family, to minimize loss of life, injury and property damage and to provide recovery services as needed – always with concern for the safety of all parties. To achieve this goal we train to provide professional level search and rescue services, preventative educational awareness programs and respond to requests from local and state entities. Our core values of Integrity; Compassion; Respect; Accountability – to the subject, to the team and to ourselves; Professionalism in our level of conduct; Dedication and Teamwork remain the guiding forces behind PaWSAR. We strive to educate ourselves and our members to the highest standards of SAR and maintain every necessary proficiency that we might always stand at the ready, “That Others May Live.”
About This Cause
PaWSAR, an all-volunteer response team, is dedicated to bringing missing loved ones back home safely to their families. With over 520,000 people reported missing in the US in 2021, with 40,000 considered endangered and over 300,000 being juveniles, PaWSAR is constantly on the frontlines, responding only to requests from police departments and agencies like DCNR. Our team, made up of professionals from law enforcement, emergency medicine, healthcare, and special education, is driven by the core values of integrity, compassion, respect, accountability, professionalism, and teamwork. We believe that education is a crucial aspect of our mission, which is why we aim to educate the public about preventative awareness and steps to take when someone goes missing. Our child survival programs are tailored to those with communication or intellectual differences, who are the largest population prone to wandering. Our goal is to become a certified Quick Response Service, increasing our capability and attracting more volunteers. To maintain the highest standards of search and rescue, our equipment must be up-to-date and capable of performing in all conditions. Some of PaWSAR's equipment has reached the end of its lifespan and must be replaced. Our goal is to purchase a new technical rescue equipment cache, with the latest materials and technology, extending the lifespan and improving safety margins. This will not only increase our capability, but also allow us to assist more agencies in their missions. PaWSAR’s K9s and handlers are certified to the same national standards as police K9s, and by attending training seminars, we hope to increase visibility and demonstrate our commitment to professionalism. With your support, we can continue to bring missing loved ones home and provide recovery services, always with concern for the safety of all parties.
