Mission Statement
Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease among children in the United States ages one to fourteen. Helping Kids with Cancer (HKWC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity with a mission to assist in meeting critical needs for kids and their families in the Intermountain West.
About This Cause
The diagnosis of cancer is a devastating event. But as families struggle with the long-term emotional and financial effects of their child’s illness, Helping Kids with Cancer strives to offer assistance. HKWC services are unique because no other resources, such as insurance or community programs, exist to meet these urgent needs for families. Though each situation, and family, is different, here are a few examples of what monetary donations provide: gas cards for parents to transport their child to treatment, grocery cards and lifesaving prescriptions. Due to generous donors, we have been able to help with rent and utility payments, to keep a child in their home. A team of social workers monitors the requests, utilizing other resources first before turning to us only in the most extreme needs. Everything we provide comes from monetary donations and voluntary service. This allows our resources to go directly to meet acute needs for children battling cancer.
