Mission Statement
VTDigger, a project of the Vermont Journalism Trust, is a nonprofit online news daily dedicated to public-service journalism. We cover Vermont politics, consumer affairs, business, education, energy, the environment and other matters of public concern. Our objective is to publish news that makes complex public issues accessible, holds government accountable and gives readers opportunities to become educated and engaged participants in their governing institutions.
About This Cause
VTDigger is Vermont's go-to news source for in-depth, investigative reporting on state politics, policy, and areas of major concern to everyday Vermonters. We are the largest state house corps of any news outlet in Vermont and the only one with a full-time environmental reporter on staff. Along with a Daily Digger email published to our subscribers, our website features news that is free and accessible to anyone with an Internet connection. We operate without pay walls and depend upon a mix of funding sources, including charitable contributions from individuals and corporations. VTDigger also conducts data projects, such as a campaign finance database, a legislative look up, and other projects that help disseminate hard to aggregate information for the general public.
