Mission Statement
Lovebugs Rescue is a foster-based animal rescue located in Southern California. We began our mission in October 2010, founded by Heather Peterson. Our team continues to grow with dedicated volunteers who take their time out of their personal lives to serve our mission. We are recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a non-profit organization under 501(C)(3). Our goal is to work with local animal shelters that are overpopulated so we may lessen the number of animals being euthanized unnecessarily. Our hope is that we can educate people on how serious this issue is and how easy it is to make a difference.
About This Cause
Lovebugs Rescue works closely with local animal shelters to aid in the rescue of dogs that are set to be euthanized. Many times these dogs have medical or behavioral problems that the shelter does not have the resources treat. Our efforts help reduce the number of pets being unnecessarily euthanized in shelters and helps guide these amazing dogs on their journey to a happy, healthy new life. The sad fact is that shelters can't support the huge number of accidental litters, strays and family pets brought to the shelter door every day. The average number of litters a fertile dog produces is one a year; the average number of puppies is four to six. (ASPCA) In 6 years one unspayed female dog and her offspring, can produce 67,000 dogs. (Source: Spay USA) With the help of spay & neuter laws, community education and rescuing dogs instead of purchasing them from pet stores, we can all make a difference to help end the over population and euthanizing of animals.
