Mission Statement
Veggielution connects people from diverse backgrounds through food and farming to build community in East San José.
About This Cause
We are located in the Mayfair neighborhood of East San José, where residents face serious economic and health-related challenges. Despite this, Mayfair is a vibrant neighborhood, rich in cultural traditions and characterized by diverse entrepreneurial businesses. Through our long-standing partnership with the City of San José and collaboration with a number of other local community organizations, Veggielution is evolving into an urban food hub, offering fresh produce from the farm, locally crafted food products and a range of leadership development, community engagement and youth education programs in a large and accessible shared space, uniting community members across income levels, cultures and generations right in the heart of the city. By connecting East San José residents to the land, to each other and to people and resources from outside this area, Veggielution helps to reduce social isolation and build social capital in individuals and the community. Our farm, services and inclusive gathering space provide a safe and welcoming environment for residents to learn, connect and enact positive change in their lives and community.
