About This Cause
Seattle Good Business Network is working to build a vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive local economy. Founded in 2010, our work supports local food systems, community kitchens, and restaurants; urban manufacturers and producers; sustainability and circular economy initiatives; youth workforce and leadership development programming, and other efforts to uplift local supply chains in service of building more values-based economies and communities. Many know us through Seattle Made, a program we established in 2015 that connects a community of 600+ urban manufacturers to each other and the resources they need to 'make it' in Seattle. These urban manufacturers contribute to a diverse and resilient economy, creating meaningful, living wage jobs. 69% of Seattle Made members are women and POC-owned businesses and 76% have five or fewer employees. Our Good Food Kitchens program funds community kitchens to create nutritious, culturally appropriate meals for the food insecure, while also supporting local farms and retaining jobs in our hard-hit restaurant community. Our youth programming connects low-income youth to meaningful career-connected learning experiences, including internships with local independent businesses and production spaces, job shadowing, and a Youth Board. Our sustainability and circular economy programming helps businesses and entrepreneurs to operate more sustainably and also facilitates the creative reuse of materials, keeping them out of the landfill as we work toward a more regenerative economy.
