Mission Statement
Our mission is "to pursue justice, provide hope and promote healing" for child victims of abuse.
About This Cause
As a nationally accredited child advocacy center, Children's Advocacy Center of Caldwell County, Inc., dba "Robin's Nest" is a 501(c)3 dedicated to serving child victims of sexual and severe physical abuse. Our staff and local agencies work together to coordinate services that transform crisis into healing for child victims and non-offending caregivers. Together with our community partners - Law Enforcement, the District Attorney's Office, Department of Social Services and local Mental Health Providers we strive to decrease trauma for child victims of abuse and assist non-offending caregivers in coping with and appropriately responding to the effects of abuse on the entire family. Our Program Services: - Advocacy Services. Ensuring a consistent and comprehensive support network for children and non-offending family members is the primary role of our advocacy program. Child advocates coordinate services, facilitate access to community resources, and provide crisis intervention and support at all stages of the investigation and legal process. Caregivers are provided with abuse specific and victim services specific educational materials and information. - Forensic Interviews. Within a child-friendly environment, trained professionals, in a one-to-one discussion, talk with children in a developmentally appropriate, non-threatening, non-suggestive manner allowing them to tell in their own words the events of the abuse. The investigative team remotely observes the interview as it is in progress. - Medical Evaluations. Medical evaluations can be an important piece of the multidisciplinary assessment of child abuse. The purpose of a medical evaluation in suspected child abuse is to primarily help ensure the health, safety and well-being of the child; diagnose, document and address medical conditions resulting from abuse; and differentiate medical findings indicative of abuse from those which may be explained by other medical conditions. -Mental Health Treatment. Therapeutic intervention helps children impacted by traumatic events overcome the long-term social, emotional and developmental symptoms that can adversely affect their lives. Our clinician is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), a components-based treatment model that incorporates elements of cognitive-behavioral, attachment, humanistic, empowerment, and family therapy models. Its core components are designed to be provided in a flexible manner to address the unique needs of each child and family.
