Mission Statement
THE IMPACT PROGRAM PROMOTES HEALTHY LIVING AND RELATIONSHIPS TO TEENS THROUGH TEEN IMPACT, TO PARENTS THROUGH PARENT PROGRAM, AND TO TEACHERS AND OTHER YOUTH LEADERS THROUGH CLASSROOM EDUCATION.
About This Cause
The Impact Program promotes healthy living and relationships to teens through TEEN IMPACT, to parents through PARENT PROGRAM, and to teachers and other youth leaders through CLASSROOM EDUCATION. Impact Program, Inc.’s vision is to educate, equip, empower and support students, parents and teachers in the arena of sexual risk avoidance and healthy relationships. We serve the community in multiple venues, such as public and private middle and high schools, churches and community organizations. Impact Program, Inc., a nonprofit 501(c) 3 youth development organization, promotes healthy living and relationships to adolescent students through CLASSROOM EDUCATION. Impact uses interactive, age appropriate lessons providing teens with medically accurate information and vital life skills that equip them with the tools to avoid risky behaviors and delay sexual activity. IMPACT presentations are delivered by trained adults and cover many items from the Florida State Standards for health education. Teens completing the program will demonstrate increased knowledge and shifts in attitude on topics covered in the program including how to refrain from non-marital sexual activity, self-regulation, success sequencing for poverty prevention, healthy relationships, goal setting, refusal skills, dating violence, and avoiding high risk behaviors. Secondly, Impact links students to either clubs or TEEN IMPACT, a peer-mentoring program for high school teens committed to abstaining from high risk behaviors i.e. premarital sex, drugs, alcohol, and tobacco products and meet monthly for support. Teen Impact students are subsequently eligible to apply for IMPACT’s summer staff and trained to deliver sexual risk avoidance presentations to middle and high school students at community locations such as: Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCA’s, Parks and Recreation Centers, and other community organizations. Thirdly, the Impact PARENT PROGRAM is designed to educate parents about issues related to positive youth development –equipping the parents with ways to help their teens avoid high risk behaviors such as alcohol and drug use that lead to teen pregnancy, STDs, as well as the emotional consequences related to early teen sexual activity.
