Mission Statement
Our mission is to meet the simple needs of children, people experiencing homelessness, and others in need, while inspiring our community to do the same.
About This Cause
Simple Needs GA (SNGA) started with one person’s mission to meet the simple needs of people experiencing homelessness in Cobb County. These acts of kindness might seem small, but they can make a huge difference in the life of a person in need. Can you imagine, for example, what it would be like to try to live without basics such as shampoo, soap, shaving supplies, toothpaste or dental floss? Since June 2010, SNGA’s Comfort Kits program has provided duffel bags packed with full-sized toiletries and other useful items to thousands of new check-ins at local shelters and to people in need being served by a host of other organizations. Likewise, through our Simply Sheltered program, we strive to help people living in the woods or on the street by providing tents, sleeping bags, tarps and other essential items.Homeless1 We also help low-income families with children through our Simple Household Needs program, which provides them with care packages full of laundry detergent, toilet paper and other household necessities not covered by food stamps. After all, as they struggle to make ends meet, people often must do without these simple essentials. Do you remember what it was like to proudly head to school wearing a pair of clean, new and well-fitting shoes? Unfortunately, far too many kids in Cobb County never get to have this uplifting experience. Instead, they are forced to get by with hand-me-downs. Through our Shoe Them Love program, donors buy families gift cards to make sure their kids can have new shoes. We also operate another program designed to help children in need: My Birthday Matters brings birthday presents to homeless kids in Marietta schools. Finally, out Uniforms for Excellence program helps schoolchildren in Cobb County “dress for success” by providing them with required school uniforms their parents struggle to afford.
