Mission Statement
Society is broken. Fear and skepticism permeate culture. Fear leads to seeking control and authority. The quest for power leads to further skepticism and drives polarization of society. The struggle is certainly not new, it has been here throughout all civilizations for all time. God is not surprised by brokenness. The Good News is the fact that in Christ, God is bringing healing to this broken world. The Church is the primary vehicle for proclamation and application of the Gospel, but unfortunately, the church is losing its voice. Society has moved toward naturalism, and has become increasingly wary of formal institutions. As our communities have struggled with discussions around the nature of marriage, gender, race, work, special needs or a myriad of other issues, the church has either struggled to speak appropriately into these matters, or has been silenced altogether.. As Christ’s model, the Church is uniquely equipped to bring the love of God to a broken world. The Church, being reminded
About This Cause
Francis Chan founded Eternity Bible College in 2003 to achieve one goal, gospel advancement. We wanted to see the love of Jesus bring real, authentic gospel transformation to all aspects of society, everywhere around the world. To reach this goal people would need to be equipped to think, act, and live biblically through training, mentoring, and accountability—in the context of the Church. But, there were many obstacles preventing this. Eternity Bible College has recognized and desires to lower or remove commonly found barriers that hinder the Gospel from going forward. Barriers such as: Debt: College debt hinders gospel advancement. So we committed to students to graduating debt free. Disciple Making: The building up of the church is neglected. So rather than simply producing graduates we committed to help the church make disciples. Practice: Traditional training/education has been reduced to knowledge acquisition with little in the way of practical application. So we have committed ourselves to having practitioners involved in the process — local pastors & ministry leaders provide most of our instruction. Current Outcomes Eternity Bible College has produced: An educational model and opportunity that consistently graduates students without debt Graduates that think, act, and live biblically within their local communities, workplaces, ministries, and churches A discipleship and training process that engages and is engaged with the local church and is committed to: Credentials: People seek to associate with organizations and people that have adhered to internal disciplines that are recognized by others. To that end, we are an accredited institution recognized by the US Department of Education and the Association of Biblical Higher Education Content Flexibility: Many institutions rigorously “track” their students into narrow degree offerings. We recognize that not everyone in the church needs a Bachelor’s degree. Accordingly, we also offer a variety of certificate and ad-hoc learning options Access: People wish to consume content and be educated within the context of their local church or situation. To meet this need, Eternity brings complete, disciplined Distance Education offerings and our Silo Project platform (www.thesiloproject.org) to students around the world. 50 former students engaged internationally Over 300 former students in full time vocational church ministry Over 1000 former students serving in various churches
