Mission Statement
Pacific NW Hospice Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to supporting end of life care by granting Gifted Wishes, and creating awareness of hospice services. We are the only foundation in the area that funds only hospice patients' dreams, not buildings or services.
About This Cause
We rely on donated funds to make final dreams come true. Our Gifted Wishes goal is for hospice patients to spend their final days with dignity, peace and surrounded by loved ones. A few of our success stories: Jim had only days left to live and wanted to marry, but was unable to afford the license. We gifted the wish of marriage to jim, who passed away the next day. Elizabeth was gifted the wish of flying to Portland to spend the last few hours of her grandson's life at his bedside. Paul's Gifted Wish was to go on a fishing trip one last time. Sally could no longer see, and her Gifted Wish was for some books on tape. Ed wanted one last lobster dinner to share with his wife before he was no longer able to swallow. Diane could no longer write, but wanted to leave messages behind for her partner. Her Gifted Wish was a recorder. Suzanne's Gifted Wish was one last trip to the beach to spend time with her daughter and her daughter's fiance. A serious Trailblazers fan, 98 year old Molly's Gifted Wish was wheelchair transportation and tickets to a Blazers game. And some additional examples of Gifted Wishes include plane fare for a final visit, sending a patient on a fishing trip, providing medical transport for a patient to attend their child's wedding, a memory foam mattress to help a patient in pain, funding a romantic dinner for a loving couple who have to say a final goodbye, providing live music at a patient's bedside, sending a massage therapist to help with a patient's pain, sending a taxi to help a patient maintain independence who can no longer drive, and help with bus fare so a family member can visit more often.
