About This Cause
Bum Phillips Charities owns and operates a Christ centered retreat center located in the gentle rolling hills of historic Goliad county, Texas. Bring your leadership groups, your praise and worship teams, your ladies groups, your widows, your Pastors or your weary to plan, restore and rest surrounded by the peace and the beauty of God's creation. When the disaster of Hurricane Harvey happened, the retreat center changed from peace and quiet to a beehive of activity. In conjunction with BBQrelief.org and hundreds of local volunteers, we were able to provide over 75,000 meals to folks affected by the hurricane. Our volunteers went to Sutherland Springs, TX to feed about 1,000 meals to the families affected by the attack on the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs. As people have been able to leave temporary housing and move back into the areas here in South Texas to start rebuilding, we provided about 1,500 meals to fine folks in Refugio County. As things have settled, we are back to receiving guests at the retreat center.
