Mission Statement
Golden PAWS Assistance Dogs is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization that promotes independence for combat-wounded veterans, first responders, and children with life-changing disabilities through partnerships with skilled assistance dogs.
About This Cause
Established in 2012, Golden PAWS Assistance Dogs was founded to help fill the complex therapeutic and emotional needs of combat wounded veterans. Golden PAWS Assistance Dogs primarily supports the 140,000+ veterans living in South Florida, as well as children with physical disabilities and various populations in our community who can benefit from canine-assisted therapy. We meet our mission by: • Raising and training Golden Retriever service dogs and providing them free of charge primarily to veterans with service related disabilities. • Assisting children with life-altering disabilities with trained service dogs that have the temperament, physical and emotional stamina suited for their unique needs. • Serving at-risk children and adults in Collier and Lee Counties through our canine-assisted therapy programs. This coupling of on-the-job community service with traditional service dog training is unique among service doge organizations in Florida and allows us to give back to the community that supports us.
