Mission Statement
GALS is dedicated to providing emotional, physical, and informational support to birthing people and healthcare providers who are under-supported in order to improve birth outcomes and strengthen families.
About This Cause
We provide comfort and companionship to families with little or no support during their pregnancy, birth and postpartum in order to improve birth outcomes and ensure no one births alone. GALS has five programs: -The On Call Program - support to birthing people during labor, birth and immediate postpartum, through a 24/7 dispatch line -The Prenatal Doula Program - provides longer term support from pregnancy ,birth and through postpartum -The Postpartum Doula Program - providing 24 hours of in-home doula care per month -The Jail Support Program - a partnership with the Travis County Sheriff’s Office to support those who are incarcerated and pregnant in Travis County through educational support groups and doula care through their birth experience -The Childcare Program - a collaborative program with the Maternal Health Equity Collaborative that provides in home, perinatal childcare for Black and BIPOC families to access medical and mental health care, for respite, and for emergency hospitalization including birth
