Mission Statement
Our Mission: To empower, strengthen, and inspire those living with disabilities through horse-assisted activities.
About This Cause
We are pleased to introduce you to Stable Pathways! We provide horse-assisted activities, therapeutic horseback riding, and Hippotherapy in Oak Grove, MN. In 2009, we established these programs so those living with physical or cognitive challenges can also discover the benefits of horses. Since Stable Pathways began, many of our clients have experienced positive changes in a variety of ways, such as steadier balance, improved core strength, horsemanship skills, empathy, social skills, and conversational abilities. On staff are a PATH International certified instructor, a Minnesota Licensed Occupational Therapist, and an instructor with over a decade of experience with horses and therapeutic riding. Of course, we have the assistance of trained, dedicated volunteers, too. We work side-by-side with six great, specially trained horses! Stable Pathways offers Private Lessons and Group Lessons. Depending on the student’s abilities, we may have a horse on a lead rope, volunteer sidewalkers, or they may learn to ride independently. We encourage interaction with volunteers, the horse, and fellow students, warm-up exercises, fine and gross motor activities. The movement of the horse - the real magic - provides a wide range of benefits. We also welcome clients who may not ride, but are interested in working with a horse on the ground. Lesson times vary and are held most of the year. The Occupational Therapist conducts what we call Hippotherapy, which is one-on-one equine-assisted therapy. When you add the effects of equine movement with standard OT strategies to work on basic motor functions, daily living skills, and reasoning abilities, the therapy becomes dynamic and powerful, beyond what can be offered in a static clinical setting. Contact us if you are interested in programming for a potential client or if you would like to volunteer. Thanks! Opening the Gaits of Possibilities!
