Mission Statement
The Committee for Open Democracy (COD) is a US based 501c3 that has launched the humanitarian aid effort “Help Ukraine 22 – Operation Palynytsya” (www.helpukraine22.org). Our project works on rescue, relief and resupply of humanitarian and medical goods for Ukrainians in need. Since its founding in 2010, the not-for-profit Committee for Open Democracy has worked on international observation missions to ensure free, fair and transparent elections. However when Russian invaded Ukraine on February 24th we expanded our efforts to focus on providing rescue, relief and resupply of humanitarian & medical goods for Ukrainians in need. We work to fill immediate gaps in assistance using our extensive network of volunteers inside Ukraine. Established by Ukraine experts and both American & Ukrainian volunteers, COD provides unique reach and capacity in-country. We work to keep our administrative costs to around 10% so that donations go where intended: to the Ukrainian people. Headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, the Committee for Open Democracy works in Eastern Europe with a field office in Kyiv, Ukraine. Due to the current invasion of Ukraine, we have now redirected all of our operational capacity, networks, and expertise to the immediate support and relief for the people of Ukraine.
