The MISSION of Urban Family is to create opportunities that empower marginalized urban youth to develop their full potential and help give back to their community." Our VISION is that all youth, no matter their background, are included, empowered and have the opportunity to develop a healthy and successful life while contributing to their community and the next generation.
About This Cause
WHO ARE WE Urban Family is a leading non-profit organization that reaches marginalized urban youth and their families with innovative solutions that help prepare them to participate in programs, live successful lives, and become contributing members of their community. WHAT WE DO We serve marginalized urban youth who live in challenging social environments with multiple risk factors such as poverty, crime, violence, gangs, drugs, low performing schools and a lack of pro-social programs and activities for youth. We specialize in serving hard to reach youth who do not engage traditional youth programs or services. HOW WE WORK Dynamic Youth Engagement: We are an organization that specializes in connecting with youth who are marginalized, disengaged and feel unsupported. We build relationships and support around youth and their families so they feel connected and cared for. Empowerment: We equip youth with the tools and resources they need to live healthy, successful lives and be contributing members of their community. Social Responsibility: We help to reshape the social environment of urban youth and families by providing advocacy for youth, access to opportunities and creating positive solutions to challenging social issues. WHAT'S OUR GOAL Our goal is to support youth by building a strong "Web of Support" of caring adult mentors, teachers, positive peers and community support.
