Mission Statement

We are an association of Combat Veterans who ride motorcycles. Our mission is embodied in our motto, "Vets Helping Vets". With chapters in all 50 States, we strive to foster camaraderie, brotherhood, a reason to live and responsible motorcycling.

About This Cause

The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association of Nevada, Inc, (CVMA Chapter 41-1) a 501(c)(3) Charity, is comprised of Full Members with documented Combat Service, Support Members with honorable military service and Associates - spouses of Full Members. We practice “Cycle Therapy” and raise funds to help fellow Veterans in the greater Southern Nevada area. Those who ride know how good motorcycling is for the soul. Riding requires total focus, situational awareness, keeps your head on a swivel. When we ride, many of the things that weigh so heavily on our minds slip away for a moment, permitting us to concentrate on the riding. After the ride is over, we may find the clarity to focus on other challenges and sometimes find pathways to solutions. Every day, twenty-two Veterans kill themselves. Many Vets need something to hang on to, a group of fellow warriors with whom they can relate, a reason to stick around. Camaraderie is critical to the mental health of Vets. Introducing Vets to motorcycling, and CVMA, is one way to establish a long-lasting relationship with a healthy sport and like-minded fellow vets. Since World War II, Veterans have gravitated towards motorcycling as a means to foster camaraderie and experience the freedom of the open road. Motorcyclists around the world recognize the therapeutic value of riding – operation of a motorcycle requires a singular focus, thereby blocking out almost everything else while riding. 2020 is the fifth year of our main program, Wheels 4 Warriors, and this is where we focus our fundraising efforts. We select a local Veteran, give them a used-but-serviceable motorcycle, all the protective gear, a year of insurance & fuel, registration, and offer a Mentor to help them learn to ride. At the end of a year, we sign the title over to the Veteran. We also have supported organizations that provide Service and Companion animals to Veterans, provided personal and comfort items to residents of the Southern NV Vets Home in Boulder City, food and presents to local Veterans during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Our Officers are volunteers and prohibited from receiving any financial gain from our efforts. We have no employees.
